Testing with real users remains one of the most exciting and essential tasks in our field, especially in the healthcare environment. Direct interaction with users and potential customers allows us to take products to the next level. 

Recently, we were able to accompany a project from a British company developing a medical device and guide them in their first formative evaluation with real users. 

From these results, the project team was able to derive 40 improvements that are currently being worked on and make the product even safer and more attractive for their customers.

Isn’t it fantastic to finally be doing user testing face-to-face again? 🎉

After running purely online testing caused by covid, we were again able to conduct a face-to-face summative evaluation for a medical device. 📟👀

Online testing is a good and quick way to gain insights, but nothing compares to observing users in “real life”, especially if it involves interacting with hardware!

When doing User Research, questions about ethics inevitably arise. Poor research practice and ignoring aspects of ethics
can have a negative impact on all parties involved in the study.

Here is the cheat sheet we use at Umbrella UX to help us behave ethically. It is especially helpful for studies on sensitive topics in the healthcare and MedTech sector but can be used in all areas.

Umbrella UX visited the Swiss MedTech Expo in Lucerne today.

We were very happy to have the opportunity to exchange and network face-to-face with other MedTech experts for the first time with our startup. It's much more enjoyable than doing it online 🙂
